Located near an important air base between Utrera, Marchena and Osuna, Morón de la Frontera is a farming town built around the ruins of a Moorish castle. Its three churches, in different styles and dating from different periods, contain a number of works of art, in particular some interesting paintings.

St Ignatius's Church

The church contains a lovely group of 18C Flemish paintings. It was commissioned by the Jesuits (hence the local nickname "Church of the Society" - a Jesuit being a member of the Society of Jesus).

Though the church is Gothic in style, it boasts a neo-Classical doorway. The interior is decorated with Baroque features.

The 16C Renaissance church contains several paintings by the great Spanish Baroque artist José de Ribera (1591-1652), who was known in Naples as Lo Spagnoletto (The Little Spaniard).
