Pórtugos : Michelin's recommendations

Pórtugos stands right in the heart of the Alpujarras, in an area rich in iron ore. It is famous for its ferruginous spring, the Fuente Agria, and El Chorreón, a waterfall with a striking reddish colour.

  • Agria Spring

    E - 18415 Pórtugos

The ferruginous spring stands behind the hermitage of Nuestra Senora de las Angustias (Our Lady of Sorrow). Water enthusiasts may be game for a little test: it is said that the water from each of the spring's five mouths has a different taste.

  • Cascade

    E - 18415 Pórtugos

The waterfall (chorreón) opposite the Agria spring is reddish in colour due to the iron ore found in the area.
