The beautiful town of Priego de Córdoba lies at the foot of the Tiñosa peak in the heart of the Subbética range. The town is the true capital of Córdoban Baroque and its streets bear witness to its glorious past. It was in the 18C that the silk industry brought great prosperity, heralding a period of unprecedented artistic and cultural splendour. Priego is the birthplace of many famous people, including Niceto Alcalá-Zamora, President of the Spanish Republic from 1932 to 1936.
