Ronda
: Michelin's recommendations
The town occupies an extraordinary setting in the Serranía de Ronda, a mountain chain where bandoleros (bandits) often found refuge in the 18C and 19C. Built on a rocky plateau through which the River Gualdevin has carved the deep El Tajo gorge, Ronda commands spectacular views from every angle. Its unique architecture is also delightful, with its mix of Muslim buildings and churches, a dramatic bridge, and a plaza de toros which still hosts famous bullfights.
