The southernmost point in Spain, Tarifa is where the Atlantic and Mediterranean air masses meet, hence the winds which make this one of Europe’s major windsurfing spots. There are two pleasant beaches here: Playa Chica, a small creek near the port, and the magnificent Playa de los Lances.

This building dates back to the early 16C. The style is flamboyant Gothic. It was completed in the 18C. There are many cafés on Plaza Oviedo opposite.
Around this square stand the Town Hall and the Municipal Museum. A pretty fountain is decorated with azulejos.
San Fransisco is a little away from the busy town centre, on Plaza del Ángel. The baroque belltower wall has a large cordon resting on two columns with Corinthian capitals.
