Balaguer : Michelin's recommendations
Capital of the “comarca” of Noguera, Balaguer is situated on the right bank of the Segre. This dynamic and enterprising town retains some sections of its Moorish walls and a few medieval streets. It was the birthplace of Gaspar de Portolà, an 18C soldier and explorer, and the writer Teresa Pamiès. In June, the Festa del Transsegre, a competition for home-made rafts, is held on the river.
