Built for the World Exhibition of 1929, El Poble Espanyol is a small village on the hills of Barcelona, displaying Spain's diverse architectural styles. Stroll through this lively little community during the day or stay on for the bustling nightlife in the evening.
Two architects and two artists spent almost two years travelling the length and breadth of the Spanish mainland to select the most representative features of each period and region for their Spanish village. Originally El Poble Espanyol was destined for demolition after Barcelona's World Exhibition but the village's popularity secured its survival.
Only a short walk from Placa d'Espanya, El Poble Espanyol is now an inhabited village, complete with town hall, market square, church and monastery, as well as shops, restaurants, a flamenco show and two nightclubs.
