Gothic quarter
: Michelin's recommendations
The Barri Gòtic extends from the southeast corner of Plaça de Catalunya to the sea. Hemmed in between the Ramblas and Via Laietana, this maze of narrow streets lined by old buildings remains one of Barcelona’s liveliest districts. It owes its name to its numerous Gothic-style buildings; a number of older remains, including the city’s 4C walls, have also been restored here. The Gothic Quarter’s clean, pedestrianised and more touristy appearance today, particularly above Plaça Reial, as well as towards the port, is the result of restoration projects in the 19C and 20C.
