This attractive town on the north coast of Tenerife, arranged in terraces at the foot of the mountain, dominates a fertile valley. The old quarter has retained some fine mansions, whose wooden balconies are some of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands. La Orotava is well worth a visit, especially on the Thursday after Corpus Christi, when its streets are strewn with flowers, or on the second Sunday after Corpus Christi, when the feast of St Isidore is celebrated.
