This museum is dedicated to the history of palm groves and is located in the former plantation of Sant Placid. The history of Elche’s palm groves, and the cultivation of the palm tree (in fact a giant herb rather than a tree) for dates and bleached palm, are clearly explained. The agreeable gardens are flourishing thanks to an irrigation system, and feature palms and fruit trees (medlars, pomegranates, olive and fig trees) all in glorious bloom.
