Standing on a hillock, this large fortress is in the shape of a pentagon and was built by Juan Martín de Cermeño from 1753 to 1766, before being turned into a military base until 1966, which partly explains its good state of preservation. In the stables, the drinking troughs are original. From its double ring of ramparts, a fantastic panorama reaches across the Ampurdan plain, with its fields protected by rows of majestic cypresses.
