The Green Coast owes its name to the colour of the sea, the pine and eucalyptus trees along the shoreline, and the wooded pastures inland. Many of the towns and villages, such as Luarca and Cudillero are devoted to fishing and most are tucked away in picturesque coves. The best views of the coast can be obtained from the Cabo de Peñas headland, the northernmost tip of the Asturias, and from Cabo Vidio further to the west. For a combined view of the sea and los Picos de Europa, you will need to head for the Mirador del Fito (further east).
