Capital of the “comarca” of Bages and central Catalonia, Manresa is a large industrial centre with some fine Modernist architecture, including the Casino, Casa Jorba (a department store) and several buildings on Calle del Arquitecte Oms. Manresa has two gourmet specialities: “bacalao a la manresana” (a cod stew with spinach, raisins, pine kernels, prunes and boiled eggs) and “conejo a la manresana” (rabbit with mushrooms, brandy and cinnamon).
