This town was known for its fairs in the Middle Ages. Today, it is an important railway hub and a major agricultural town with a large Sunday market. Isabel the Catholic died here in 1504.

On a hillside by the town, made of bricks and flanked by an enormous keep, the castle stands proud. Jeanne la Folle stayed here often and the sinister Cesar Borgia was imprisoned here for two years.

A historical building in the middle of the Plaza Mayor. The entrance is through the café, which has a tapas display. There is also an early 20th century style dining room. The traditional food is famous for its homemade dishes.
