The lierne and tierceron vault stands on twisted columns and contrasts with the baroque sanctuary decorated with azulejos and luxurious retables.

The museum is housed in an 18C building in the walls of a medieval castle. Reconstructions of various workshops, including a tailor's, a forge, an oil mill and a 19C home.

Many Renaissance, Moorish and naval elements decorated the building. The entrance gate is decorated with two spheres that symbolise the Portuguese naval discoveries.
