Since Antiquity, Ourense has been famous for its thermal waters (65°C) which emerge from three abundant springs, known as Las Burgas. The town has retained a Roman bridge from that period, rebuilt in the 13C to facilitate the passage of pilgrims to Santiago. Although today it is an important commercial centre with many modern buildings, the town also boasts an old quarter huddled around its cathedral.

Cloister of San Francisco
