Palencia : Michelin's recommendations

The town stretches north-south between the narrow confines of the River Carrión to the west and the railway line to the east, in the middle of the fertile Tierra de Campos region. The land around the town is irrigated by the Canal de Castilla and its tributaries. In the early 13C, Alfonso VIII founded the first Spanish university here.
