This monastery was founded in the 7C by Franciscans and Beato lived here, the monk famous for his commentary on the Apocalypse (8C) that was copied in the form of illuminated manuscripts, the Beatus. From the belvedere, there is a view over Potes and the Picos de Europa mountains.
