San Sebastian
: Michelin's recommendations
Lying between Mt Urgull and Mt Igueldo along a shell-shaped bay (La Concha), San Sebastián developed as a seaside resort in the 19C. The Palacio de Miramar bears witness to the city’s past and was built at the request of Queen Christina of Austria. The old town, located at the foot of Mt Urgull between the port and the mouth of the Urumea, comes to life each evening when tapas and Basque specialities such as shellfish, seafood and “chipirones” (squid), can be enjoyed in local bars.
