Soria : Michelin's recommendations
Soria stands at an altitude of 1 050m on the edge of the River Duero. Its melancholic landscapes and the medieval atmosphere of the old town have attracted many poets, including Antonio Machado (1875-1939). In the 10C, the region of Soria was at the extreme edge of the kingdom of Castile, on the border with the Islamic south. A fortified line was built along the Duero to withstand invasion, comprising fortresses such as those in Soria, Berlanga, Gormaz, Peñaranda and Peñafiel.
