Teruel : Michelin's recommendations
At an altitude of 916m, the capital of Lower Aragón stands in a landscape of ochre gullies, which give the area its unusual appearance. The wealth of Mudéjar art in Teruel can be explained by the good relations between Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities here until the 15C. The last mosque was closed in 1502. The legend of the lovers of Teruel has inspired many writers.

Plaza Fray Anselmo Polanco 3 E - 44001 Teruel
Built in a palace with an elegant Renaissance façade with loggia, this houses collections of ethnology and archaeology. One floor is devoted to ceramics, the other to activities that have made Teruel famous since the 13C.

Cathedral of Santa María de Mediavilla

The late 13C artesonado ceiling has been preserved. In the left transept stands a retable of the Coronation of the Virgin from the 15C. The retable of the main altar was sculpted in the 16C by Gabriel Joli.

There are five towers in all. Built between the 12C and 16C, they stand on three floors. The two best examples are the San Martín and Del Salvador towers, built in the 13C.
