The North railway station was built between 1909 and 1917 by Demetrio Ribes, an admirer of Austrian Modernist architecture. Its interior decor is highly appealing, particularly its wooden ticket counters and panels of azulejos depicting scenes from the surrounding plain and the Albufera (the lagoon to the south of Valencia). The cafeteria is also adorned with stunning decoration on its walls.
