Valls : Michelin's recommendations
The affluent town of Valls occupies an open and strategic position at the hub of a major road network which has encouraged its commercial development and enhanced the popularity of its markets (Firagost, one of the largest commercial fairs in Catalonia, is held here on the first Tuesday and Wednesday in August). Valls’ highlights include its folklore (including “castells” or human pyramids) and many culinary specialities such as “calçots”.

The area has kept its medieval character and although the walls have disappeared, the streets in their place are named after them. Note the remains of the old Jewish quarter, visible in Carrer del Call.

Carrer de la Cort E - 43800 Valls
Situated on Carrer de la Cort, it has two marvellous varnished azulejo ceilings from 1605, representing scenes from the Battle of Lépante (note the sails on the boats and the reddy colour of the sea).
