Zaragoza Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

The history of Zaragoza, capital of Aragón, is marked by two heroic and bloody sieges (1808-9), during which it withstood Napoleon's troops. Most of the town was rebuilt in the 19C, after damage incurred during the War of Independence. Its buildings are not particularly noteworthy but its historic centre is well worth a visit. The 2008 World Expo has further enhanced Zaragoza’s dynamic character. The festival of El Pilar serves as a reminder that Zaragoza is also an important religious centre.
