Palacio de la Aljafería
Palacio de la Aljafería
: Michelin's recommendations
An 11C Arab palace built by the Bennihud family, the Aljafería was redesigned for the kings of Aragon and later for the Catholic Monarchs. It was given over to use by the Inquisition before being turned into a barracks. It is divided around a rectangular patio, surrounded by porticoes, decorated with fine tracery and chased capitals. The «musallah», a kind of private mosque for the emirs, is restored to us with its mihrab and all the creativity of its festooned arches and its floral decor.
