On a promontory still surrounded by fortified walls, Ainsa overlooks the confluence of the Cinca and Ara rivers. In the 11C the town was the capital of a small kingdom. Nowadays, Ainsa is very much geared up for tourism, and its streets of irregular stone framed by well-maintained houses provide a pleasant stopover in between hikes in the Ordesa National Park.
