The Baztan Valley cuts through a landscape of grassland grazed by horses and sheep in stone-walled fields, dry slopes of clumpy vegetation, and proud traditional villages (from Ainhoa to Elizondo). To the northwest, on the border with the French Basque Country, the Bidasoa Valley follows the narrow fissure of the Endarlaza Gorge. Apart from the attractive area between the villages of Doneztebe and Bera, the appeal of this somewhat busier valley is not that of the Baztan Valley.
