The 34 888 acres of the Parque Nacional de Aigüestortes Estany in the Catalan Pyrenees stand at an altitude which varies between 1 500m and 3 000m. The park can be reached via Espot to the east or Boí to the west; both entrances have substantial parking facilities because private vehicles are not allowed in the park. It is recommended to book an organised 4WD excursion. The choice of tours is immense, ranging from the Sant Maurici Lake, stunning panoramas from Redó and an infinite choice of walks through the cool, green countryside.
