This mountain can be explored on various excursions, setting off either from l’Escaladei or from La Morera del Montsant. Its name – the Holy Mountain –derives from its important hermitage tradition, as borne by the numerous caves encountered while walking here. From a distance it appears as a barren crimson massif, lending solemnity to the surrounding landscape. More practically, it contributes to the quality of the local wine by shielding the vineyards from the cold north wind.
