The Núria valley is surrounded by an imposing barrier of mountains extending from Puigmal to the Sierra de Torreneules. Streams and small lakes fan out across the Núria plain, where the river of the same name wends its way through a gorge overlooked by the Totlomón and Roc del Rui peaks. The Fontnegra and Fontcalda glacial valleys, on either side of the precipice, are part of the Núrias "seven valleys" area, which is home to the Vall de Núria ski resort and a number of hotels.
