Time difference

There is a 5-hour time difference between Sri Lanka and the UK and Ireland in summer and a 6-hour time difference in winter. When it is 12 noon in Colombo, it is 7am in London and Dublin in summer and 6am in winter.


A current passport (valid for at least three months) is required for stays of up to 30 days. A visa is required for longer stays.


Recommended vaccinations: DT Polio, hepatitis A and B and typhoid.

Anti-malaria medication is essential.

Travel insurance is advisable (automatically provided by some bank cards).
