Built from 1719 to 1735 in the Voralberg Baroque style, the Abbey church of Einsiedeln is the most remarkable building of its kind in Switzerland. Two high towers surround the elegant façade. The interior is surprisingly large (113 m long, 41 m wide for the nave) and contains rich decoration. This important centre of pilgrimage contains a statue of Notre-Dame-des-Ermites, which stands inside the Sainte-Chapelle.
