The immense snow slide of the Steingletscher culminates under a mass of reddish moraine. The ridge of the glacier however reappears on the banks of a small lake, where miniature icebergs can sometimes be seen floating on the surface. From Hotel Steingletscher, the Steinalp discovery path leads to the glacier (2hr return). Motorists can also admire the view by taking a narrow toll road and then walking for 15min after parking their car.
