Situated near the cathedral, the old town was once surrounded by ramparts. Here you will find many 16 and 18C houses with painted façades, some decorated with wrought iron signs and oriel windows. Gallusstrasse, Schmiedgasse, Spisergasse and Marktgasse are the most typical streets.
