Near to the belltower, at the foot of the rock that overlooks the abbey, this dig has uncovered the foundations of buildings that, in the 4C, preceded the current church in a clear arrangement. It is possible to visit the catacombs, which are narrow underground galleries leading to the crypts and the tomb of St Maurice.
