Built on the site of the former Iron Museum, the Musée du Fer et du Chemin de Fer recounts the history of ironwork through objects dating from the Iron Age to the present day and the evolution of two ancient forges; in one of these, a blacksmith can be seen at work as in the olden days. Outside, four paddle wheels provide the driving energy. Upstairs is some very interesting audiovisual material on the history of the Simplon Railway and a huge model of 277m of tracks, where you can drive miniature models of the trains that have been passing through Vallorbe since 1870.
