This collector left his house to the town when he died in 1965. Located in the heights of Winterthur, in sprawling grounds dotted with sculptures by Renoir and Bourdelle, the museum houses a fine collection of five centuries of painting: Cranach the Elder, Brueghel and Rembrandt are exhibited alongside 17C-19C French painters (Watteau, Chardin, Corot, Delacroix, Renoir etc) as well as work by Van Gogh and Picasso.
