With its little medieval streets running down to the River Limmat, this area is the heart of the old town. Some houses, the most charming of which date back to the 16C or even earlier (the oldest are 13C-14C), have terraced gardens. Stroll down Augustinerstrasse; some of its houses have Baroque oriel windows, a rarity in Zurich.
