Azraq : Michelin's recommendations

Sited in the middle of the desert on Jordan’s only oasis, Azraq is a crossroads of commercial routes leading between Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait; the village makes its living from the incessant traffic passing through. The water source which caused a settlement to spring up here has greatly dwindled, necessitating the creation of the Al-Azraq Wetlands Reserve, an important site for migratory birds. Dedicated to the reintroduction of the oryx, the Shaumari reserve is also nearby.
