Qasr Azraq
Qasr Azraq : Michelin's recommendations
The ruins of Azraq Castle bear witness to 2 000 years of history. The fort was probably built in the 3C on the site of an earlier structure and remained in use until the early 20C. Access to the inner courtyard is through a fine entrance bastion, topped by a machicolated bartizan which, like the mosque, seems untouched by the passage of time. By contrast, the rest of the building is in a poor state of preservation; it is mainly renowned for the fact that Lawrence of Arabia was here in 1917.
