At a height of 802m, Mount Nebo dominates the Rift Valley, a geological fracture caused by the meeting of tectonic plates through which flows the Jordan. It owes its renown to its Biblical significance: atop this mountain Moses died after having seen the Promised Land given by Yahweh to his people. A major pilgrimage destination, the site has a 4C sanctuary.
