A surprisingly small museum for such impressive collections. Its treasures offer a splendid insight into the nation’s historical and cultural diversity from prehistory to Byzantium. Objects are distinguished by influences ranging from Egyptian, through Asiatic to Persian… encountered through commercial links and conquests… The star exhibits are the statues, some twin-headed, from Aïn Ghazal, among the oldest (8000-6000 BC) representations of the human form ever found… Not to be missed!
