Izraa : Michelin's recommendations

The town of Izraa lies 80km south of Damascus, in the Hauran region; much of its population subsists on rudimentary farming. The historic centre of black basalt houses standing cheek by jowl along narrow streets is gradually being abandoned by its inhabitants, drawn to more recently constructed districts on account of their “modern” concrete dwellings. The old town has two remarkable 6C churches, St George and St Elias.
