Tartous : Michelin's recommendations

Tartus is the most attractive of Syria’s Mediterranean coastal towns. Its characterful centre sited in the crusader citadel, its little seafront – “the corniche” – with its cafés and restaurants offering fish from the nearby market, its pretty medieval façades, its fishing port and splendid Frankish cathedral make it the prettiest spot on the coast. The only drawback is the woeful state of its beaches.
