Misyaf Citadel
Misyaf Citadel
: Michelin's recommendations
This citadel at the heart of the village of Misyaf was originally Seleucid (3C-1C BC). During its tumultuous history, it has been a fief of the Assassins (1140-1270), an Islamic sect active in northwest Syria’s Jebel Ansariyeh. This group actively trained for missions that would today be described as acts of terrorism. A visit here is primarily to admire the building’s exterior.
