Ayutthaya nestles in a loop of the River Chao Phraya, at its confluence with the Lopburi and Pasak rivers. The River Pasak can be explored by boat, providing a different view of the old city. Admire the houses on stilts and the temple ruins (such as the romantic Wat Chai Wathanaram and the much venerated Wat Phanan Choeng) as you make your way along the river, passing boats laden with rice.
