In keeping with other large cities around the world, such as Paris, London and San Francisco, Bangkok also has its own Chinatown, the entrance to which is marked by a huge ceremonial gate. Stroll through the streets here and soak up the bustling atmosphere, admiring the district’s traditional houses and shops. Chinatown is also a mecca for shopping, particularly along Thanon Charoen Krung, on Thanon Yaowarat, with its many jewellers, and around Sampeng Lane, which is renowned for its silk shops.
