The artificial hill of the Golden Mount is best visited from 9-11 November, when it is celebrated in a procession by the locals. The mound is crowned by a fortress topped with the gilded chedi (tower-reliquary) of Wat Saket, which is accessed via 300 steps. From the top, there is a superb view of the River Chao Phraya and the royal district.
