Consisting of five pavilions connected by footbridges, Suan Pakkat Palace houses a fine collection of Khmer statues, as well as objects belonging to the royal family, pottery from Ban Chiang (famous for its refined red ochre decor) and remarkable black and gold paintings on lacquer dating from the 18C which depict, among other things, the life of Buddha. Surrounded by the city’s modern buildings, this palace is a true haven of peace and tranquillity in a noisy and frenetic district.
