The former royal residence of the kings of Siam, the Grand Palace houses several buildings influenced by Western architectural styles. In addition to the Chakri Mahaprasat palace, where the king lived, don’t miss the Aphon Phimok Prasat, a beautifully proportioned wooden pavilion, and the Dusit Mahat Prasat, built in 1789, recognisable by its gilded spire. The Grand Palace now hosts official ceremonies and foreign guests.
